Internet Connection Options
For the majority of smaller businesses, the recommended telephone connection to the Internet is via so called 'Broadband ADSL'. This high speed ‘always on’ connection uses standard telephone lines and is now available in most areas.
For the small minority of businesses that require even higher speeds or regularly need to transmit very large amounts of data, there are still faster alternatives:
Bonded ADSL – several broadband phone lines connected together to provide higher speeds and throughput between you and your telephone exchange. Faster than standard broadband, but overall speeds and throughput not guaranteed since there is no dedicated direct connection between your exchange and the internet.
Leased lines – a dedicated high speed phone line directly between you and the internet. This provides the highest speeds and throughput – and guaranteed performance. It is however the most expensive option.
